MAJOR Championship at The University of Florida
Men 16-19. Champion: Tae Wan Lee (middle) of SOUTH KOREA, 2013
Sept 4
Gainesville, FL - Hot, humid conditions and close Division races were the stories of the weekend August 14-15,
2010 at the Mark Bostick Golf Course at The University of Florida. At one point, three on course playoffs to decide
first place were all on the golf course at the same time. And both AJGA Exemptions were determined by on
course playoffs. 82 competitors took on the UF golf course amidst temperatures in the low to mid 90's with heat
indexes climbing to 105. The winds stayed low, blowing at only 5-10mph all weekend, which made for ideal
scoring conditions.  Competitors in the Men 13-19 and Women 13-19 Divisions were all vying for the AJGA
Tournament Exemption to be given to the lowest overall score of the Divisions. The course was soft, the weather
was warm, and the stakes were high, all of which made for an exciting tournament weekend.

In the Men's 16-19 Division, low scoring was necessary to contend.
Tae Wan Lee of South Korea jumped out to
an early lead after a Saturday
66. Three strokes behind Lee after day one was Anthony Maccaglia of Tampa, FL.
Maccaglia's round of one under par
69 put him in the final group on Sunday along with hometown player Parker
Jones
of Gainesville, FL. Jones recorded an even par 70 on day one. Sunday found Lee and Jones battling it out
for first place and the AJGA Exemption. Jones rallied from four strokes down with a four under par
66 to tie with
Lee after Lee posted an even par 70 for round 2. Maccaglia posted a 75. Jones and Lee went back the 18th hole
for a playoff to decide the winner. After both players made pars twice on hole 18, they went over to hole number 9
for the third playoff hole. Again both players made par and went back to the ninth tee for the fourth playoff hole.
After Lee tapped in for par, Jones had about four feet for par to extend the playoff to the fifth hole. The putt just
slipped by the hole however, and Lee was crowned Champion and given the AJGA Exemption as well.
Congratulations Tae Wan! Third place in the Division was awarded to
Jacob Fleck of Dade City, FL after he beat
out Maccaglia in a chip and putt off for third place. Fleck posted rounds of 73-71.

Sam Horsfield of Davenport, FL recorded his 8th win of the season over the weekend at The University of
Florida. Horsfield shot a total of one over par 141 for the weekend (71-70) to take first place by four strokes.
Runner up in the Division went to
Evan Byrd of Ocala, FL. Byrd finished four strokes behind Horsfield at five over
par 145. Tied for third place in the Division with identical scores of 74-72-146 were
Philip Knowles of Parrish, FL
and
Ryan Nicoll of Spring Hill, FL. Nicoll emerged victorious from the chip and putt off that ensued, and took
home the third place trophy.

The Women's College Division saw it's first event this past weeked at UF. The criteria for playing is that you
must be post high school and up to and including the age of 25.
Amy West of Valrico, FL was awarded first
place after posting rounds of 73 and 77 for a total of 150. West just completed her freshman year at Daytona
State College.

of Tampa, FL finished in third place after recording a 84-80-164 total.

Erica Stoner of Ocala, FL dominated the Women's 13-15 Division in her first ever Premier start. Stoner
followed a Saturday 71 with a Sunday 77 to post an eight over par 148 total. Runner up in the Division was
awarded to current 2010 Women 13-15 Points Leader,
Lauren Coe of Tarpon Springs, FL. Coe posted a 166
total. The third place prize went to
Taylor Moody of Sunrise, FL after she posted a 169 total.

  Women 16-19 Champion
Laura Hendee and Women 13-15 Champion Erica Stoner both finished at the same
aggregate total of 148. The AJGA Exemption went to the overall 13-19 Division winner, and since there was a tie,
both Hendee and Stoner went back out to the 18th hole to decide who the overall Champion and AJGA
Exemption recipient was. After both players tied the first playoff hole, they went back to the 18th tee to play the
hole again. On the second playoff hole, both competitors missed the green on their approaches to the uphill par
4, 18th hole. Hendee was able to get her ball up and down while Stoner just missed her par putt. Premier would
like to congratulate Laura Hendee on winning the overall 13-19 Division Title and the AJGA Exemption!

Shooting a career low on Premier was Young Men 11-12 Competitor,
Sully Zagerman of Windermere, FL.

69 on Saturday's round to grab a huge lead. Zagerman posted a 79 on
Sunday to give him a two day total of six over, 149.
Nash Neptune of Rotonda West, FL took home second place
after rounds of 80 and 81. Third place went to
Baylor Griffin of Tampa, FL. Griffin's two day total was 165.

The Boys 9-10 Division was the third and final Division that required an on course playoff to decide first place.
Jackson Suber of Tampa, FL and Jordan Rodriguez of Winter Garden, FL were both tied at 164 after regulation
play. A multiple hole playoff was necessary, but Suber emerged victorious.
Harrison Presta of St Augustine, FL
was awarded third place after posting a total of 165.

Bryce Walker of Bartow, FL won for the second time in 2010 in the Boys 7-8 Division. Walker played solidly,
recording rounds of 39 and 36 for a total of five over par 75. Current 2010 Boys 7-8 Division Points Leader
Tyler
Wilkes
of Tampa, FL was involved in a playoff with current 2010 Boys 7-8 Points Runner-Up, Aaron Elmore of
Howey-In-The-Hills, FL for second place. Wilkes was able to edge out Elmore in the second place chip and putt
off and claim second prize. Elmore took home third.
