July 24, 2011

Eustis, FL – Premier Junior Tour conducted the 14th 2011 tournament on July 23-24, 2011 on the rolling, links-style terrain of Black Bear Golf Club.  Despite early starts, hot, sunny weather was
the order of the weekend.

Overall Men 13-19 Champion and Men 13-15 Champion
14-year old Sam Horsfield of Davenport, Florida continued his stellar, multi-year, record-shattering, unmatched red-number play with Premier Junior Tour by winning the overall Men 13-19
combined field, and winning the Men 13-15, adding a fifth Championship to his 2011 Resume, and his 25th win with PJT since December 2008! This is back-to-back victories in both categories
for Sam, as well as a three-Championship string: Southern Hills Plantation Club, Reunion Resort, and Black Bear.
States Sam: ““I like to play PJT events because they are held on the best
courses in central FL. Karen and her team always put on great events which run smoothly, get great turn outs with competitive players. I always look forward to PJT events.”
 Sam put
together yet another duo of red numbers for the weekend. Round 1’s six-under par 66 had no bogeys, six birdies, and 12 pars!  Round 2’s three-under par 69 included five birdies, eleven pars and
two bogeys. Sam led the 13-15 field by four strokes and the 16-19 field by three strokes after Round 1. After Round 2 Sam had maintained the 13-15 lead and increased his lead by six to nine
strokes over the 16-19’s. Congratulations, Sam on yet another PJT Championship!

New partner and sponsor,
Martha Cobo Sports Performance, donated a 2.5 hour sports performance package to Premier Junior Tour.  On Sunday morning prior to Round Two, the raffle winner
among all players in the field was chosen:
Patrick Fischer of Leesburg, Florida! Congratulations, Patrick!  Thanks to Martha Cobo Sports Performance for this generous prize!

Men 16-19
In the Men 16-19 Division, Ryan Nicoll of Spring Hill, Florida edged out Jimmy Ellis of Winter Springs, FL and Pureun Kim of Gainesville, FL by one stroke to claim the Men 16-19 Championship. In
Round 1 Ryan posted a three-under par 69, comprised of 3 birdies and 15 pars!  Round 2’s 75 of steady play kept Ryan one stroke ahead of Jimmy and Pureun, and assured Ryan’s victory. This
is Ryan’s second 2011 Championship with the PJT!  Meanwhile Jimmy Ellis had carded 77 on day one, but came back strong with a four under 68 to move himself from ninth place after Round 1
to a two-way tie with Pureun Kim after Round 2.  A play-off was then conducted to determine Runner-Up and Third place finishes for trophies and points. Jimmy was victorious in the play-off.
Pureun Kim posted very steady play all weekend with a one-over total for both days: 73-72.  Pureun just came off a victory at the PJT’s Major Championship at Reunion Resort, where he edged out
Ryan Nicoll by one stroke.

Men 13-15
In the Men 13-15 Division, Sam Horsfield of Davenport ,FL continued his superb play with Premier. (See more details in the first paragraph of this article.)  This victory now puts Sam in the lead of
the Men 13-15 Points Race approximately three-times higher than his nearest competitor.  Sam’s 68-69-135 was two strokes better than all others after Round One, and four total better after
Round 2.  Closest on Sam's heels after round one and round two was Runner-Up
Andy Zhang of Reunion, FL. Andy was the only other competitor in the field besides Sam to post both tournament
rounds in the red. Andy posted a four under 68 after round one, which included four birdies, two bogeys and 12 pars. In Round two Andy rounded up five birdies, with two bogeys and a double for a
one-under 71. Taking third place honors was
Carl Yuan of China, playing in his first Premier tournament. Carl posted a 74 on the first day, and came back with an impressive four-under 68 on day
two including five birdies, finishing three strokes behind Andy.

Amateur Men
In the Amateur Men’s Division, Patrick Fischer of Leesburg, FL grabbed his fifth victory of the year. Fischer played consistently, shooting both rounds in the 70’s, a 77 and a 74.  Fischer is on top
on the Amateur Men’s Points List by 7400 points now.

Women 14-19
In a show of great, steady play, Belinda George of Plant City, FL took home her second Championship in only three PJT starts!  Belinda led the field with a 77 in Round 1, seven strokes better than
any others. In Round 2, Belinda notched her play up even further, carding a two-over par 74, ensuring her victory with a 17-stroke difference. Taking home Runner-Up trophies and points was
Jessica Danford of Longwood, FL posting consistent rounds of 84-84. Four strokes behind Jessica was Third Place trophy and point winner Brittany Bradshaw of Tampa, FL. Brittany posted an 88
on day one, and came back four strokes better with 84 after Round 2. This tournament has now moved Brittany from third place to second place in the Points Race!

Women 10-13
In a great field of competitors, these young women proved the tightest race after Round 1. Five of the seven players were within six strokes of each other after Round One, led by Jenny Kim of
Heathrow, FL!  The Championship was up for grabs as these ladies had scores ranging from 80-86.  Then in Round 2, Jenny shaved off two more strokes with a 78, and that was enough for the
Victory, Jenny’s second victory on the PJT!  Shaving three strokes off her day one score, Samantha Brimhall of Rockledge, FL kept the race tight on day two in her sixth appearance on the PJT.
Taking home third place trophy and points was Morgan Baxendale of Windermere, FL, who cut her day one score by two strokes.

Young Men 11-12
In the Young Men 11-12 Division, a talented  field had four competitors within five strokes after round one, which left the tournament up to anyone. Anton Serafini of Lake Mary, FL led round one with
77, three better than Jacob Penny of Valrico, FL, and four and five strokes better than Jarred Cornell and Eddie Shi.  It was Jarred Cornell, however, that stole the spotlight on Saturday.  On Jarred’s
opening hole he shot his first PJT hole-in-one! It was Hole 4, and Jarred used a 4 iron to 141 yards. It is Jarred’s second ever hole in one.  Congratulations Jarred!  Jarred will receive a hole in one
trophy, compliments of PJT!  Round two saw two competitors going low!  Anton Serafini took his first round lead and shaved eight strokes off his score, posting a three under par 69, which gave
him the Championship victory with a eight stroke margin!  Jacob Penny shaved six strokes off his score, and carded 74, which gave him Runner-Up trophy and points.  Jarred Cornell posted an
85, which gave him third place the third place trophy and points.

Boys 9-10
Looking for another PJT Championship to compliment his win at the University of Florida, Carter Dalili of Vero Beach, FL did just that in convincing fashion with an eight stroke victory over a field of
ten competitors. Carter shot 79 on day one, one shot clear of Johnny Bai of China, but there were four players within seven strokes, so it was anybody’s Championship.  Coming into day two,
Carter cut four more strokes off, carding a 75, which ended up being enough for Carter to win the Boys 9-10 Division.  Coming in Runner-Up in trophies and points is Johnny Bai, who shot 80-82 in
his first PJT tournament.  Wrapping up the top three with a Third Place trophy and points was Brian Xu of China, who just came off a great win at PJT’s Reunion Resort Major.

Girls 8-9
Incredibly talented young ladies Mimi Chen of Longwood, FL and Megan Ikeda of Windermere, FL continued their great play on the PJT!  These two great players, who gave us a great sudden
death playoff at Reunion Resort earlier this month with an Ikeda victory, did not disappoint at Black Bear as they tied after Round One with a pair of 38’s.  Then going into Day Two, Mimi was able to
close the victory with another 38. Megan posted a 46 to take home the Runner-Up trophy and points. Both of these young ladies are close in the points race as well!

Boys 7-8
Aaron Zhang of Lake Mary, Florida posted a 37 after day one, leading the division.  Jake Horner of Riverview, Florida carded a 40, only three off the lead. Gunter Williams of Grand Island, FL, in his
first PJT appearance, posted a 45 and Benjamin Rodegra of Windermere, FL in his first PJT tournament, posted a 54.  In Round Two, Aaron shaved a point off to record 37-36-73, which gave
Aaron his sixth PJT victory of 2011!  Jake posted 41 on day two, which ensured his Runner-Up trophy and points, and added to his already great point lead in the 2011 Points Race!  Gunter carved
three strokes off round one, and finished in Third Place, earning a trophy and points!

Boys 6 & Under
Alex Ogle, of St Petersburg, Florida set the standard high right away with a Round One score of one –under par 35, one of only a few players in the entire field to post red numbers during the
weekend!  Alexander Hall of Longwood, FL was only seven strokes behind at 42 after Round One.  Barry Zhang of China, in his first tournament with the PJT, carded 62.   Then in Round Two, Alex
Ogle stayed consistent and finished 39, two over par total of 74, which earned him the Championship trophy and points – his seventh PJT Victory of 2011, and increased his 2011 Points Race
lead!  Alex Hall shot 40, and 82 total, which gave him the Runner-Up trophy and points, and added points to his PJT Points Race totals for 2011! Rounding out Third Place was first-time competitor
Barry Zhang of China, who posted a 62 in his first tournament with PJT, and impressed by taking six strokes off Round Two, recording a 56, 118 total.
