Davenport, FL - Hot temperatures and a challenging layout greeted the playing competitors as they competed May 28-29, 2011 at Highlands Reserve Golf Club in Davenport, FL for the 2011
Premier Junior Tour Highlands Reserve Golf Club Summer Kickoff. The event marked Premier's 11th competition of the 2011 season. Both Saturday and Sunday brought forth sunny skies and
temperatures hitting the 90 degree mark, with high humidity as well. The winds stayed at manageable speeds, around 10-20mph. The Highlands Reserve layout proved to be a challenge and
forced many of the Divisions to have close finishes atop the leader board, with two Divisions needing extra holes to determine first place.

Men 16-19
In the Men 16-19 Division, a close competition resulted in an on-course playoff for first place honors. Caleb Sibley of St Cloud, FL jumped out to an early Round 1 lead after firing a tournament-low
round of even par 72. The 72 gave Sibley a five stroke lead over his nearest competitor,
David Burnham of Naples, FL, who shot 77. Nick Gallo of Orlando, FL was in third place after a 78. Tied for
fourth place with 79's were
Timothy McIntee of Haines City, FL and Josh Mizels of Weston, FL. Sibley came back to the field on Sunday, however, posting an 83. Mizels was able to close the
seven stroke deficit to zero after a second round of four over par 76. This left Sibley and Mizels in a tie for first place at 155. An on-course playoff ensued for the first place trophy. Both Sibley and
Mizels missed the green on the first playoff hole but were able to get it up and down for par. On the second playoff hole, the downhill par 4 second hole, Mizels pushed his drive into the right trees.
Sibley then hit an iron into the fairway. Mizels had to chip out of the trees while Sibley hit his approach shot just left of the green. When Sibley carded a bogey after failing to get it up and down,
Mizels had a three footer to extend the playoff to a third hole. Mizels' putt lipped out, and Sibley was crowned Champion. Sibley gained his first victory in just his second event on the tour. "My putting
was extremely good and helped me make enough putts to stay in it. The course played very well, it was in great condition which helped my overall game," Sibley commented. Mizels was awarded
second place in his first ever Premier start. Third place in the Division was awarded to McIntee, who followed his round 1 of 79 with a 77 on day two. McIntee finished just one stroke behind first
place.

Men 13-15
Playing in his first 13-15 event after moving up from the Young Men 11-12 Division, Matthew Ruel of Oldsmar, FL played impressively and won big. An opening round of 75 gave Ruel a four stroke
lead over
Mac Harris of Howey-In-The-Hills, FL. Ruel commented that solid putting was key to his first round of 75. Matthew Rothrock of Largo, FL was in third place after opening with an 80. Ruel
stayed strong on Sunday, carding a four over par 76. Ruel's total of 151 gave him a nine stroke victory over Harris, who recorded an 81 on Sunday. Rothrock was given third place honors after a
Sunday 84 left him with a 164 total. Ruel earned 1200 points for his victory, also his total of 151 gave him the lowest score among all 13-19 year olds. This is Ruel's first victory in the Men 13-15
Division and first victory of the 2011 season.

Amateur Women
The Amateur Women's Division saw a close finish at the top of the leader board. Micah Dowling of Orlando, FL grabbed the Round 1 lead after opening with a round of three over par 75. Just two
behind Dowling after day one at a score of 77 was
Amy West of Valrico, FL. Sitting in third place after opening with 82 was Kim Carpenter of Tampa, FL. On day two, Dowling added four strokes to
her day one score, shooting a 79 on Sunday. Dowling's 79 opened the door for West, who took advantage of the opportunity and ensured a two stroke victory after recording a three over par 75.
West gained her second victory of the season in the Amateur Women's Division, while Dowling earned 1000 points for her second place finish. Kim Carpenter shot an identical 82-82 for a total of
164, earning herself third place. Kim Carpenter's sister and identical twin, Kyleen, came in fourth place.

Women 14-19
In the Women 14-19 Division, Belinda George of Plant City, FL impressed all in her first appearance on the tour in 2011. George led wire to wire, shooting rounds of 76 and 74, which led to a 150
total and a nine stroke victory over her nearest competitor. George commented, "I liked having the ability to play with amateur women, it gave me the ability to ask questions and experience new
things." George earned 1200 points for her victory, and proved herself to be a strong player in her first start on the tour. Runner up in the Division also went to a new member in 2011,
Elizabeth
Wilson
of Orlando, FL. Wilson opened with an 81 and improved by three on Sunday with a 78. The 159 total gave Wilson second place honors comfortably. Brittany Bradshaw of Tampa, FL
claimed third place honors after shooting 83-84-167. Bradshaw is now in second place on the current Women 14-19 Points List.

Young Men 11-12
Extra holes were also needed in the Young Men 11-12 Division to determine first place. Manuel Girona of Celebration, FL and Spencer Alexander of Port Charlotte, FL found themselves in a tie for
first after regulation play. Girona had amassed a three stroke lead over Alexander going into Sunday, however, Girona closed with an 84, which gave Alexander an opportunity to tie it up.
Alexander's 82-81-163 and Girona's 79-84-163 forced them to an on-course playoff to determine first place. Both competitors hit the fairway on the first hole. Alexander's approach landed just short
of the first green, leaving him a long chip through a ridge to the back hole location. Girona's approach settled just right of the green and pin high, about 10 yards away from the pin. Alexander left
his long chip shot about 15 feet short, while Girona chipped up nicely to about 3 feet. Alexander's putt just missed, and Girona calmly stroked in his three footer for the victory. This was Girona's
first victory in his five starts on the 2011 season. Alexander was awarded second. Third place in the Division went to first time Premier player
Jorge Martinez Hoffmann of Venezuela. Hoffmann
posted scores of 82 and 86 for a 168 total and 800 points for third place.

Women 10-13
Just one stroke separated first and second places in the Women 10-13 Division at Highlands Reserve. Amy Zhang of Lake Mary, FL enjoyed a three stroke lead heading into Sunday after an
opening round of 83. Three behind Zhang was
Alexa Pano of Lake Worth, FL. Zhang scored two strokes higher on Sunday, shooting a 90. Pano almost forced a playoff, but came up one stroke
short. Pano finished with an 88 for a total of 174, one behind Zhang. Zhang regained her position on top of the Women 10-13 Points List with the victory.
Regan Taylor of Spring Hill, FL earned third
place honors in the Division. Taylor came back nicely after an opening round of 106 with a round of 93 on Sunday. Taylor is now in third place on the current Women 10-13 Points List, with Pano
one behind her in fourth.

Boys 7-8
In the Boys 7-8 Division, as in the Women 10-13 Division, just one stroke separated first and second places. Aaron Zhang of Lake Mary, FL opened with a five over par round of 41. This was
Zhang's first event since moving up to the Boys 7-8 Division from the Boys 6 & Under Division. Just two behind Zhang after day one, scoring a 43, was
Jake Horner of Brandon, FL. Zhang matched
his Saturday 41 with the same on Sunday, posting a total of 82. It was enough to hold off Horner, who closed with a 40 and finished with a total of 83. Zhang's victory snapped Horner's impressive
eight event winning streak. With the victory, Zhang moves into second place on the Boys 7-8 Points List.

Girls 8-9
