LeHigh Acres, FL - Warm weather, mild breezes, and a challenging layout faced the junior players as they competed April 30-May 1, 2011 in the Majestic Golf Club Southwest Florida Classic.
Premier Junior Tour visited the Majestic Golf Club in LeHigh Acres, FL for its 9th event of the 2011 season. The weekend brought forth some low scores and good competition as the players
fought hard to earn valuable points towards end of the year rewards.
Men 16-19
In the Men 16-19 Division, first time Premier competitor Todd Tyler Williams of SW Ranches, FL took home the first place trophy after posting a 146 total. Williams opened with a one under par
round of 71, giving him a two stroke lead going into the final day over 2011 Major Champion Luke Bardwell of Winter Haven, FL. Four strokes behind the lead after a day one 75 and in third place
was Matthew Lindahl of Stuart, FL, also a first time competitor. Sunday proved to be a little bit tougher of a day as the winds starting gusting harder, however, Williams stayed strong, posting a 75
and giving himself a 146 total. Williams' victory margin was six strokes after Bardwell closed with a 79 for a 152 total. Third place was awarded to Lindahl, who posted an 80 on Sunday for a total of
155. Williams earned 1300 points and now moves into 10th position on the current Men 16-19 Points List after his victory.
Men 13-15
The Men 13-15 Division found Connor McMahon of Oldsmar, FL grabbing his career first victory on Premier. McMahon played consistently all weekend, recording rounds of 85 and 86 for a total of
171. McMahon commented, "I really enjoyed playing this tournament. I am happy and a little surprised that I won this event for my age group, but I have been working hard on my game and it paid
off. I can't wait to play more tournaments on this tour and hope I can have the same success next time out." The victory earned McMahon 1200 points and an automatic invitation the the year ending
Tour Championship at Reunion Resort. Runner up in the Division went to first time competitor Ross Lally of Cape Coral, FL. A Saturday 94 followed by a Sunday 91 gave Lally a 185 total and
second place honors.
Women 10-13
Two first time competitors in a close competition for first place was present in the Women 10-13 Division at Majestic. Brooke Lynn Ciccone of Cape Coral, FL was in the top spot after day one.
Ciccone's 103 gave her a two shot cushion over fellow competitor Regan Taylor of Spring Hill, FL. Ciccone, however, was unable to hold on to the lead on Sunday, shooting a 109, while Taylor
was able to comeback by way of a 103. Taylor's 208 total left her with a four stroke victory over Ciccone. Taylor is now in a tie for fourth in the current Women 10-13 Points List. Congratulations to
Regan Taylor on her first Premier win!
Boys 7-8
The Boys 7-8 Division saw Jake Horner of Brandon, FL continuing his dominance, earning his now 7th win in a row. Horner posted his lowest two day total of the year after matching rounds of one
over par 37 on both Saturday and Sunday. The total of 74 was three lower than Horner's previous season low. With the win Horner now has 9600 points on the year. Finishing second in the
Division was first time Premier competitor Siddharth Chackravarthy of Tampa, FL. Chackravarthy also posted identical scores on both days (49-49). The total of 98 earned Chackravarthy 1000
points.
Young Men 11-12
Winning for the second event in a row and maintaining the top spot on the Young Men 11-12 Points List was Spencer Alexander of Port Charlotte, FL. Alexander made it two wins in a row on
Premier after posting his lowest total ever in the Young Men 11-12 Division. Alexander played consistent, with rounds of 74 and 75 for a 149 total. The win gave Alexander 1200 points and he now
has a 4300 point lead over second place on the Points List.
Amateur Men
Grabbing his second win in the Amateur Men's Division in 2011 was Patrick Fischer of Leesburg, FL. Fischer recorded rounds of 85 and 91 for a total of 176. Fischer is 2600 points clear of his
nearest competitor on the current Amateur Men's Point List.
