Brooksville, FL - High winds and a challenging course were the stories of the weekend May 14-15, at the Southern Hills Plantation Club as Premier Junior Tour conducted it's 2011 Southern Hills
Plantation Club Junior Open. The event was Premier's 10th competition of the year. The players enjoyed fantastic tournament conditions, as Southern Hills readied to host U.S. Open Local
Qualifying Tuesday, May 17th. Both days were dominated by high winds that became quite gusty at times. There was a 45 minute delay on Saturday as a storm rolled through, the high winds even
causing a large tree to snap in two about 50 yards in front of the 7th tee box. Sunday brought forth sunny skies, but the winds remained high and gave all players involved quite the challenge.

Men 16-19
In the Men 16-19 Division we saw Luke Bardwell of Winter Haven, FL earn his second victory of the season and second in his last three events, the other finish being a second place. Bardwell
jumped out to a two stroke lead after posting a day one score of four over par 76 in the windy conditions.
Matt Mullarkey of Crystal River, FL, new to Premier for the 2011 season, was two strokes
behind Bardwell after opening with a 78. Mullarkey stayed consistent, recording another 78 on Sunday, giving him a 156 total. Bardwell, however, was able to hold off Mullarkey after Bardwell
closed with a 79 in the trying conditions on Sunday, giving himself a total of 155 and a one stroke victory. Third place in the Division went to
Lucas Trim of Tampa, FL who opened with an 81 on
Saturday but recovered nicely on Sunday with a 78 to post 159 and achieve third place honors. With the victory, Bardwell has now won two of his last three events, and sits on top of the Men 16-19
Points List by a margin of 1,470. For the victory, Bardwell earned 1200 points, a $100 gift card to Kikkor Golf, and one FJT tournament exemption.

Men 13-15
Winning for the third time of the season in the Men 13-15 Division was Sam Horsfield of Davenport, FL. Horsfield found himself one stroke back going into Sunday after his opening 74 was
bettered by one via a 73 by
Philip Knowles of Bradenton, FL. Two strokes behind the lead and in third place after day one after a three over par 75 was Terrence Zhang of Orlando, FL. Horsfield
surged ahead of both Knowles and Zhang on Sunday, shooting an even par 72 in the high winds. Horsfield was victorious by three strokes over Zhang, who shot a two over par round of 74 on
Sunday for a total of 149. Knowles scored 77 on Sunday, and finished in third place. Horsfield increased his lead on the current Men 13-15 Points List to over 2300 points with the victory. Also, for
the win, Horsfield was awarded a $100 gift card to Kikkor Golf as well as one FJT tournament exemption.

Amateur Men
Competing for the first time in our Amateur Men Division, B.J. Kuhn of Fort Myers, FL was crowned Champion. Kuhn struggled to a day one 85, but recovered well on Sunday, posting a 79. Kuhn's
164 total earned him 1200 points and he is now tied for third place on the 2011 Amateur Men's Points List.

Women 14-19
Heather Proctor of Silver Springs, FL was crowned Champion in the Women 14-19 Division. An opening round of 78 gave Proctor a four stroke lead going into Sunday over Brittany Bradshaw of
Tampa, FL, who posted an 82 on day one. Day two proved to be difficult in the windy conditions. Proctor scored 83 on Sunday, which gave her a total of 161. Bradshaw's round two of 89 gave her a
171 total and second place. New to Premier on 2011,
Kelsey Jensen of Plant City, FL finished third place after posting 91-90-181. This was Proctor's first event, and first win, of the 2011 season.
With the win Proctor is now in the top 10 of the Women 14-19 Points List, also Proctor earned a $100 Kikkor Golf gift card and one FJT tournament exemption.

Women 10-13
New to Premier, six year old Alexa Pano of Lake Worth, FL impressed all as she competed in the older, Women 10-13 Division over the weekend at Southern Hills. And not only did she compete,
but she won the Division. Pano played consistently, shooting rounds of 94 and 95 for a 189 total and the victory. Second place in the Division was awarded to
Regan Taylor of Spring Hill, FL. Taylor
earned 1000 points for the second place finish after recording 104-97-201. Also new to Premier for the 2011 season,
Madison Heideman of Largo, FL earned the third place honors, posting
103-101-204. For the win, Pano earned a $100 Kikkor Golf gift card.

Young Men 11-12
2009 Boys 9-10 Player of the Year Travis Wells of Land O Lakes, FL earned his first victory of the 2011 season. This was also Wells' first victory in the Young Men 11-12 Division. Wells shot 81 on
Saturday and followed that up with an 84 on Sunday for a total of 165 and a thirteen stroke victory over his nearest competitor. Also playing his first event in the Young Men 11-12 Division after
playing several events in the Boys 9-10, Jarred Cornell of Orlando, FL finished second in the event. Cornell opened with a 93 but improved nicely on Sunday by way of an 85. Cornell earned 1000
points for his second place finish. Wells moved up to fifth place in the Point Standings with the win, and also earned a $100 Kikkor Golf gift card.

Boys 9-10
After finishing second in two events and third in one event in the 2011 season, Zachary Bell of Clermont, FL played his way to his first victory of the season at Southern Hills. Bell had a four stroke
lead over fellow competitor
Guy Daines of Tarpon Springs, FL going into Sunday after Bell had posted 92 and Daines 96. Bell improved by one on Sunday, shooting a 91, while Daines shot six
strokes higher on Sunday than he did on Saturday after posting a 102. Bell's 183 total gave him a fifteen stroke victory and now Bell has moved into solo position of first place on the 2011 Boys
9-10 Points List, after having been tied at the top with Charlie Tang before the week. Daines, playing on Premier for the first time in 2011, earned 1000 points for his second place finish and is now
tied for 12th on the Points List.

Boys 7-8
In the Boys 7-8 Division, Jake Horner of Brandon, FL extended his winning streak to now eight events in a row after being victorious at Southern Hills. Horner recorded a total underneath 80 for the
fourth time this year, after posting rounds of 41 and 38 for a total of 79. Horner now has over 10,000 points (10,800), and is the first player to eclipse the 10,000 point mark this season.

Boys 6 & Under
The Boys 6 & Under Division found Alex Ogle of St Petersburg, FL extend a winning streak of his own to now four events. At Southern Hills Ogle posted his second lowest total of the year. Ogle
stayed consistent, shooting a 37 on Saturday followed by a two over par 38 on Sunday for a total of three over par 75. Ogle is now almost at double the point total of his nearest competitor on the
2011 season, and could possibly reach the 10,000 point total at his next event.
